コロナ禍により筆者の会社も事業環境が悪化し、筆者は関東の他社へ応援派遣となってしまった(単身赴任)。これに伴い、10年以上続けてきた名古屋の緑地公園での自主トレは終了。

関東での住居は会社の寮であるが、周囲を散策したところ、自主トレできるような公園は無い。公園はあるが子供達で一杯であり、いいオッサンがそれを押し退けて自主トレってわけには行かない(名古屋の緑地公園は滅多に人が来ないエリアがあった)。

幸い、寮の部屋には若干のスペースがあり(そういう寮を選択した)、荷物を何とか整理して1.5m×2.5m程度はスペースを確保した。床はフローリング。これでナイハンチは問題なく練習できる。以前も書いたが狭い場所でも型は練習できると思っており、それを実践しようかと思っている。

この土日で早速従来と同メニューで自主トレをやってみた。やはり広い場所で伸び伸びと動きたいとは思う。ただ、この寮は元々ビジネスホテルだったそうで、部屋には55cm×45cmの鏡が付いており、それを見ながらナイハンチをやったところ、最後の諸手突きで上体が突く方向に捩れていることに気が付いた。それが良いのか悪いのかは判断付かないが、船越義珍氏、本部朝基氏の演武を写真で見る限り、そこの部分で目立つような上体の捩れは無い。従来の自主トレでは全く気付かなかったことである。また、公園での自主トレでは靴を履いているため感覚が判らないが、今の部屋でやるときには裸足であり、蹴りのときの虎趾や足刀を出す感覚、立っているときに床を掴む感覚等がとても判り易い。久し振りに足の裏(親指)に豆ができてしまった・・・。しばらくこれで様子を見る積りである。

因みに、棒はスペースを懸念して持ってこなかった。代わりにホームセンターで1mの手摺用の合板の棒を購入して来た。樫より若干密度が高いように思われる(それなりに重い)。棒とは感覚が異なるが、杖の練習の積りでしばらく練習してみようと思う。今野敏さんが杖の理念は棒と同じだと言っていたし。

The residence in Kanto is a company dormitory, but when I took a walk around the area, there was no park where I could train independently. There is a park, but it is full of children, and a good man can't push it away for self training (Ryokuchikoen in Nagoya had an area where people rarely came).

Fortunately, there was some space in the dormitory room (I chose such a dormitory), and I managed to organize my luggage and secured a space of about 1.5m x 2.5m. The floor is flooring. Now Naihanchi can practice without any problems. As I wrote before, I think I can practice the kata even in a small space, and I'm thinking of putting it into practice.

On this weekend, I immediately tried a self exercise with the same menu as before. After all I want to move freely in a wide place. However, it seems that this dormitory was originally a business hotel, and the room has a 55 cm x 45 cm mirror, and when I did Naihanchi while looking at it, the upper body was twisted in the direction of the last hand thrust. I noticed that. I can't tell if it's good or bad, but as far as I can see the performances of Gichin Funakoshi and Choki Motobu in the photos, there is no noticeable twist in the upper body. This is something that I didn't notice at all in the conventional self training. Also, in the self training in the park, I do not know the feeling because I am wearing shoes, but when I do it in the current room, I am barefoot, I feel like I put out my Koshi(tiger toes?) and foot sword when kicking, I grab the floor when standing The feeling is very easy to understand. After a long time, beans have formed on the soles of my feet (thumbs) ... I'll be watching this situations for a while.

By the way, the Bo did not bring it because of space concerns. Instead, I bought a 1m plywood stick for a handrail at a home improvement store. It seems to be slightly denser than the oak (it is rather heavy). It feels different from a Bo, but I think I'll practice it for a while with the practice of wands. Mr. Bin Konno said that the philosophy of ​​a cane is the same as that of a Bo.
