流派によって受けのやり方が微妙に異なることがある。上げ受けのとき、玄制流では添え手は相手の水月辺りに向けてまっすぐ出す。S.I.先生によれば、牽制効果と場合によってはそのまま突いても良いということだった。
大学空手部の添え手は、平手での上げ受けであり、それから顔面前で左右の手を交差させて正規の上げ受けをする。これを二度受けや両手受けと解釈している人もおられるようである。ただ、両手受けを稽古するのは構わないと思うが、型でこれをやると添え手による上げ受けをするために殆どの人はワンテンポ遅れている。平安（へいあん）二段の最後の動作、慈恩の最初の方の上げ受けしながら進む動作等、それはいろいろな型の中にある動作である。慈恩では本来、突き手がそのまま上げ受けに変わる動作となるが、添え手で上げ受けをしたら全く意味が変わってしまう。
小林流とか他流派の型を見る限り、添え手を上げ受けにしているところは無い。ある意味、添え手による上げ受けは型を改変していることになるのではなかろうか。型の解釈も変わってくる。
学生時代に一生懸命練習した動作なので癖となってしまいなかなか直せないが、上げ受けの添え手は玄制流に戻すように心掛けている。

As far as the type of the Sholinryu and other faction is concerned, there is no place where the attendant hand is raised. In a sense, isn't the lifting by the attendant hand changing the kata? The interpretation of the kata will change.
It is a receiver that I practiced hard in my university days, so it is a habit that I can not fix it easily, but I am trying to return to Genseiryu with the attendant hand of the upper stage receiver.
