Idle Talk - Karate as Physical Education

At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, I returned to my home in Nagoya for the first time in a long time and did a self-practice at the green park. For the past four months, I have only been training in the small room of the company's single dormitory, so it feels good to move freely in a spacious outdoors. It was the same menu as usual, but my legs and hips remained sore for a few days.

A long time ago, I suddenly remembered when I lost in a lottery and chose kendo in a physical education class in my first year of college (at that time, I wanted to do a college physical education class, golf or tennis ... / Kendo in physical education class, the smell of the hand after wearing a gauntlet ・ ・). In that class, there was a practice in which two people hit each other. And my knees fell down, perhaps because I was hit by a kendo club member and caused a concussion. I couldn't keep up with my opponent's movements. Also, when the teacher of the instructor had a meeting with me several times, the teacher lowered the bamboo sword and put out his head. I couldn't understand the meaning of it, and there was a moment, but he seemed to have the intention of "hit it", so he let me hit it. If you want to be able to move / actually use it, you will need to practice interpersonal training (kumite) on a regular basis.

If you think of karate as a martial art, you should move so as not to waste your physical strength as much as possible and you should get the maximum effect. But it should be practiced with kumite. It is difficult (impossible) to pursue it by one person/ to develop a sense with the karate kata.

In conclusion, I think that the karate kata, it can be interpreted freely, might aims to develop flexibility, muscle strength, and motor nerves (nurture the body and nerves)  so that these interpretations can be realized. I think it might be better to think of it as "physical education" as explained by Kinjo Hiroshi. To open your legs unnaturally and to lower your hips like a competitive karate, so I'm still wondering what it's like,  maybe should be done if it's divisible by physical education ... . I have no intention of doing so for now as it's a strange habit .
